Melanie
Waechtler
Melanie Waechtler is a 2018 graduate of UC Santa Cruz, graduating with honors in Sociology and a focus in Education. Melanie was born, raised, and educated in Half Moon Bay, and has been working at MSS as a coach since the summer of 2016 and a teacher since the fall of 2018.
Melanie’s passion for the future of education is heavily inspired by her time at MSS and the students she has worked with. She hopes to inspire the same love for education in her students that she found through her own education. In her time at MSS as a teacher she has taught middle school math, middle and high school english, middle and high school history, and college study skills. In her work she tries to encourage her students to shape their own opinions about the world around them, and inspire confidence and give them the tools to pursue what they are passionate about.
In the future, Melanie hopes to get a teaching credential and a Masters in Education so that she can continue to help and teach those in her community.
In her free time, Melanie loves to spend time with her family, friends, and her two kittens. She also enjoys walks along the coastal trail, hiking along the coast and Mt. Tamalpais, playing tennis, and Zumba.
