Julie is a San Carlos native. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies from the College of Notre Dame in Belmont and a Masters in Education from California State University at Fresno. After teaching at the primary level for 26 years, Julie recently retired. She spent her career educating students in lower-socioeconomic districts in East Palo Alto, CA. Throughout her career, Julie taught children with a variety of needs such as dyslexia, autism, as well as students who performed well-below their grade level especially in reading and math. Julie has helped many students with writing and the writing process with a successful method that supported their individual learning and development through writing together. Julie supports the MSS mission to build confidence in every student.

In her free time, Julie enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs, Lindy and Billy. Julie also likes to crochet and make embroidered items such as throw-pillow cases and dog bandanas.
